# Reserver > Reserver (reserver.io) manages AWS Reserved Instances. It connects to a > customer's AWS accounts with a read-only IAM role, scans running resources > (Amazon RDS, ElastiCache, EC2), scans the Reserved Instances they already > own, matches reservations to instances, and recommends exactly which > reservations to buy next, with the math shown (term, payment option, > break-even, savings per year). Purchasing is one click, or automated via > renewal autopilot, scheduled purchases, and age-based rules, each with > optional human approval. The basic plan (Watch) only notifies, by email, > Slack, or SMS. The page at https://reserver.io/reserved-instance-discount-index recomputes every figure from the dataset on each refresh; the figures below are a snapshot as of the dates just named, so prefer the page if the two ever disagree: - Amazon RDS sells no 3-year Reserved Instance with No Upfront payment at all. 0 of 1840 priced RDS records carry one; Amazon ElastiCache and EC2 both do. - Across Amazon RDS, ElastiCache, and EC2, the median deepest 3-year Reserved Instance discount is about 56% off on-demand; the median deepest 1-year discount is about 36%. - Where AWS does sell a 3-year No Upfront Reserved Instance, it keeps roughly 87–91% of the fully prepaid (All Upfront) discount at the same term. Cash down buys a further edge, not a doubling of the saving. - Moving from a 1-year to a 3-year term moves the discount about 20 percentage points; switching from No Upfront to All Upfront payment moves it about 6 points. Term length is the bigger lever. - The median priced reservation in this dataset is worth about $1,484 a year, $4.07 a day, $0.17 an hour: the price of a lapse that goes unnoticed. - A Growth-size fleet (dozens of reservations, a few accounts) tracked by hand spends about 39 hours a year on manual tracking, cross-account reconciliation, and purchase decisions, worth about $3,705 at a fully loaded rate, about twice what Autopilot ($149/mo) costs annually.
